Ace Hood: Starvation mixtape

Ace Hood knocks on the door with another mixtape for us to listen too. I won’t spend much time on this mixtape due to the subject matter.  Now I will say check out Promise & Slow Down feat Kevin Cossom to nice tracks that kinda catches you by surprise. Do It is another track to check his flow and that beat is bananas. It’s time for Ace Hood to grow as an artist give us better subject matter because you can only be hard\hood for so long.

All in all this was a typical Ace Hood cd not to bad. I gotta give the cd a 2 out of 5 NICE TRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Murphy Lee & Mr Winter Time: I'm Cold mixtape

Somebody please stop the St Lunatics from making music there time is up! Its safe to say that for Murphy Lee his best work and song will be "What the Hook Gon Be" because this mixtape is wack! I'm putting out a warrant for his rap career to be stop!

All in all there is nothing else that needs to be said but this cd is horrible! 0 out of 5 TIME WASTED OUT OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stalley: Savage Journey to the American Dream mixtape

Newest member of MMG Stalley is a good change of pace to the label. Stalley is on the same lines of Wale but reminds you more of Lupe/Common type rapper but it does work. I give MMG props for not putting together a well rounded label. You may remember Stalley from Party Heart feat Rozay & 2 Chainz on Rozay Rich Forever mixtape. Now let’s get into the mixtape hands down this is go be a slept on mixtape that people need to hear because it is good music.  The very first track is like a freestyle no hook 3:40 seconds worth of heat on Savage Journey.  There is lot of good songs on this mixtape very few mistakes on here like you would expect. The one song I will say not to listen to is Everything New beat and rhymes are wack I think this was his step out of my lane song and it was an epic fail!  Once you get passed that then you have some pretty solid and good music for your ears. It’s a must you listen to Route 21 Stalley flow and style is killing this beat. A shocker was Hell’s Angel (American Heathen) feat Rick Ross I was blown away to see that Rozay got outshined but Stalley on this track. Now he doesn’t out shine everybody on drops by Have To You feat Wale & Anthony Flammia on this one Wale reminds Stalley to fall back for a minute. Hammers & Vogues feat Curren$y neither outshine each other but complement each other nicely under a nice beat. Seen It All & Live At Blossom are some more tracks that are packed with heat that you won’t be disappointed by.

All in all Stalley first intro the music world under MMG was a damn good one. Dare I say Rozay unnoticed has a strong label that is ready for the world to hear? I have to give this cd 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Memphis Bleek: The Movement

It pains me to say this since I been a fan since day one. This mixtape is horrible and I see why Bleek didn’t go to RocNation. I thought him and Jigga had beef but I see it was his time is up. Bleek saddens me to still be rapping about the same thing since the 90’s.  Please somebody anybody ghost write for him please!

So I gotta give this mixtape a 0 out of 5 TIME WASTED OUT OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SWV I Missed US

Sister With Voices better known as SWV has came out of hiding in the witness relocation program to drop their first cd in over 15 years. Sadly none of the groups they started around anymore either. I gotta give props it’s the original three members of the group no add on or anything like that. I will say this cd was more than I expected considering the time off. Let’s first start with the missteps there was really only two Do Ya feat Brianna Perry & Show Off feat A.X. both these songs suck cause they are party tracks that they get left behind on. It’s like their making an attempt to connect with the 106 crowd and I say SWV leave the kids in the yard and come in doors with grown folk’s music. Co-Sign is the lead single and it was vintage SWV that we grew to love in the 90’s. Great pick to let the world know they were back to claim their throne at the top. Here is where things are kinda of a downer with this cd. To me they more OK songs than anything. Better Than I is a good song but Taj rapping on it EPIC fail and whoever had that idea needs to be fired! All About You, I Missed US, The Best Years are just ok nothing you will listen to all the time.  Songs you need to hear are Use Me a beautiful love song for your ears to hear. Love Unconditionally this that ride or die I’m here until the end love song. The best song on the cd you gotta listen to and put on repeat is Everything I Love like I said back when I reviewed Anthony Hamilton cd this song right here if you don’t feel this way about you other half do you really love them nuff said. Just go to this song hit play and set for repeat.
I will say again this was a good comeback cd by SWV some missteps but it’s been 15 years that’s go happen. What will say stick with you formula that you are known for Coko up front and everybody else in the background where they belong side note please sign my petition to stop Taj from rapping support it “No MO Taj Rap 2012”! All in all due to majority just being ok I gotta give SWV 2 out of 5 NICE TRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monica New Life

Monica’s back after about 2 -3 years off from dropping the FIRE cd Still Standing.  This cd was another good typical Monica cd from start to finish. Monica like Mary has a lane where you know what you go get when you listen to the cd. In some eyes this maybe considered bad and some this maybe considered good.  After listening to this cd several times I gotta admit there is only one song I don’t like and that’s Cry its damn depressing skip it all cost. Man Who Has Everything is a good song and beat I don’t care for the hook at all. Monica does show that she got old school skills like in Still Standing with the track Time To Move On this song is so throwback I thought Etta James was sitting next to me and she pulled it off. Big Mistake & Without You some more good tracks on this cd you need to hear.  The whole cd again is nice outside of Cry standout tracks are Take A Chance feat Wale everything about this track is right and Wale bars pick up from Lotus Flower this one is a repeat please. It All Belongs To Me feat Brandy another classic like the Boy Is Mine I almost wanna say ladies do a cd together and see what happens everybody else doing it. Until Its Gone & Amazing need to be heard once you put this cd in also.

Now I will say again Monica put out a good hear felt cd but we been hearing it for a while now. It’s time for another After the Storm cd something up beat and we can ride or party to. Show us you happy now Monica. All in all I give this cd a 3 out of 5 SOLID due to its time for a change. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

E-40 The Block Brochure - Welcome to the Soil

The king of the bay area E-40 drops cd number 100 feels like to the rap game. To show that he has a lot of songs left in him E-40 dropped 3 cd’s at once. This has never been done before 54 tracks to be heard 18 on each cd.  So I will break this down one cd at a time but give an overall review for the cds as a whole.

Pt 1 by far has to be the worst out of the 18 I barely found 8 songs out of it to listen too.  I will just list that songs to listen to on Pt1. They Point not to be bad you got 40 bragging about what 40 is exactly. Cutlass speaks for itself nothing needs to be said and Slummin that beat makes me miss my beat and it goes hard and 40’s word match made in heaven. On this disc Fast Lane & Help Me need to be heard you can’t go wrong with these two tracks. I give this cd 2 out 5 Nice Try to many wack tracks on here.

Pt2 is the best out of the three I will just touch on what to avoid because I was feeling 13 out of 18 tracks on this one. Hittn a Lick is wack as hell don’t know what the hell 40 was thinking on this one. Lead single Function sounded like a gimmick and was on the cutting room floor and then added at the last minute.  This Shit Hard beat was cold Blooded (yeah I said that) but everything else was weak.  On this cd the standout tracks first up are I’m Laced verbal is amazing on this one 40 reminding you how he shut the game down at one time. Zombie feat Tech N9ne & Brotha Lynch Hung is heat you get vintage Loaded Lynch & Tech keeps killing it alone with 40. I was out done that 40 went to the rap burial ground and found Celly Cell for the track The Other Day Ago and it was classic Celly Cell and 40 had to put this on repeat been a while since we heard both them on a track together. A song that shocked me we Tryna Get It feat T-Pain & Twista at first glance I just knew T-Pain would be out of place but he fit in there nice and it was good hearing Twista & 40 trade verses.  This I say again was the best out of the 3 cds and I give it a 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pt3 wasn’t too bad out of the trilogy but not as good as the 2nd disc.  Let’s get into it miss ignore block track Gargoyle Serenade & Wasted I have no idea what the thought process was on this song at all. Sidewalk Memorial, Pussy Loud & Its Curtains avoid at all cost. I did find about 10 out of the 18 that was decent on this cd that you should give a listen too. Jealous, Get Loose are more reason the game still needs 40 and his skills. I Aint Doing Nothin feat B-Legit made me wanna put in Hempin Aint East of B-Legit good song made me say when the next Click cd is.  The gems on this cd are What You Smokin On feat Snoop & Tha Dogg Pound everybody road the beat nicely and just kilt it for the west coast. Salute feat Raheem DeVaughn isn’t to be slept on either a must listen too. The stand out on this cd is 40 & Hiero feat Hierographics just put this song on repeat is all I need to say! What Happened to Them Days is another good one and makes you wonder what happen to the world during your childhood.  This is a another good cd on 40 part I gotta give this one 3 out of 5 SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8ightball Premro mixtape

The fat mack has come out of hiding and left MJG behind and drop his first mixtape in a long time. 8Ball did a good job of putting his self back out there in the game. Sadly after that Bad Boy failure 8Ball & MJG went from being top 5 rap games to lost in the wind (thanks for that Diddy & Bad Boy). Listening to this you can feel Ball is trying to reach and find his lane in this new age of rap. Tracks like Jumpin’ Up that is about nothing but PUSSY is WACK as hell don’t know what Ball was trying for but he didn’t reach it at all. Washing Machine feat Slim of 112 is just as bad as Jumpin’ Up. It hurt me to hear that Ball did a sucka for love track What’s the Rush it’s too sad to even talk about it. Soap Box & Bytch Like need to be avoided also. There are some bright spots on this mixtape up first is Em Down feat 2Chainz & Yung Joc the beat from Drumma Boy stellar and Ball lyrics was and Yung Joc sighting has you wondering when we go get another Joc cd and 2Chainz keeps dropping decent bars on guest appearances on people tracks. Immaculate Perception feat Waka Flocka & Yelawolf  now I’m not a Waka fan but he drop some nice lyrics on this track but both Ball & Waka got outshined by Yelawolf he didn’t kill it but he kilt it. No Pain is another good one to listen too. The stand outs on this mixtape is Allergic feat Bun B & Killer Mike I gotta give Bun props he keeps dropping gems time after time after time. Killer Mike verse makes you say when are you dropping a cd Mike when? Ball didn’t get left behind and showed why he one of the best out of Orange Mound. Showed Up feat MJG listening to this you just get your ears wet for another Ball & G cd somebody give them a deal since nothing came about with Grand Hustle.

This was a decent cd for Ball to drop but it is starting to sound like the rap game has gone passed Ball. All in all I gotta give this cd a 3 out of 5 SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big K.R.I.T. 4Eva N A Day mixtape

Big Krit is back with yet again another mixtape and no major label release yet.  I have got to admit that Krit has stay on the same page with all his mixtapes that have dropped. He hasn’t step out of his lane and I thank him for it.  He has a lot of good song on this mixtape and of course got the ones to avoid.  There are two good interludes 804 AM & 504 AM that reminds you of Outkast back before they went Hey Ya on everybody. Krit Is picking up where Outkast left off and Goodie Mobb or Dungeon Family could. Getting into the cd avoid 1986 the hook will get on your nerves and not really much to the song at all. Down & Out, Insomnia & Sky Club are songs to avoid too I don’t feel that he really tried and felt he need to add songs to the mixtape.  The title track 4Evanaday is a good song you need to check out from the beat to the verse that is drop from Krit on this one. Country Rap Tunes, Yesterday & Package Stone are some nice tracks you shouldn’t miss your ears will thank you for it later. Red Eye is something different from Krit to where he shows his storytelling skills. Breaking down the harm the rap game can have on a relationship. Standout tracks on this mixtape are Me & My Old School & Boobie Miles really give you an introduction to who Big K.R.I.T. and what he go bring to the rap game. Krit shows again he is what the game is missing right now.
This was yet again another good mixtape from Krit but I am worried about when will the well run dry on material with all these mixtapes. We all saw how weak J.Cole was compared to his mixtapes. All in all I gotta give Big K.R.I.T. a 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wiz Khalifa Taylor Allerdice mixtape

Taylor Allerdice is the latest mixtape from Wiz & Taylor Gang & there newest member Juicy J. Now hearing Juicy J at first sounded out to me but it worked really because he wasn’t featured big time on any songs and we all know he got fire beats. So it was a win – win for all involved in the deal or as Wiz says he with us because we spend 30 stacks in the club (rap game stop saying stacks & racks please). Let’s get to the songs to avoid out the gate The Cruise is wack he trying to sing on it the beat the hook it is all a train wreck at its finest.  T.A.P. feat Juicy J is sad that it didn’t work because the beat was nice to the song.  Juicy J verse was to be forgotten I don’t know what he was thinking on this one. Another training wreck was Number 16 just don’t even listen is all I need to say on this one. Now let’s get into what is good on this mixtape. Outside of a couple bumps you can really let this mixtape ride for the most part. California is a nice track makes me wish I had something to let the top down. Nice set of bars and fire beat can’t beat it. Going to back to Juicy J being in the crew now he is featured on The Code with Chevy Woods & Lola Monroe, My Favorite Song, Blindfolds feat Juicy J and all three of these songs are nice and Juicy shows he is a good addition to them with more than just beats.  There are some real good stand out songs even though Amber Ice is short it’s still a damn good song and flow to it. You gotta give Guilty Conscience & Mary 3x a must listen also Wiz at his best and the beat is a killer also. The standout track you need to listen to first with the best beat, hook & lyrics by far is Never Been Part Ii feat Amber Rose & Rick Ross now what is crazy about this song is that Amber on the hook outshines Rozay and Wiz cause it’s so unexpected and to the left. Rozay and Wiz do hold the own and neither outshines each other which is a good thing.

All in all Wiz is keeping the good music going since he dropped Mac & Devin with Snoop. What I will say though it Wiz does need to start working on new subject talking about having money and smoking only go take you so far. I gotta rate this cd 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Throwback Review

Monica -  After the Storm

Monica has a new cd dropping son I felt the need to do a throwback review on what I feel was her best cd to date.   Every young talent at some point tries to create a cd to let people know I am grown now.  After the Storm put everybody on notice that Monica was grown in every way shape and form of the word “grown”. First thing about this cd that stands out is that Missy was at the helm and put into the right direction. This wasn’t you typical Monica love ballads cd she had that but also stepped out her lane and had some party tracks to let you know she from the “A” and can get it in. First let me say there are no bad tracks on this cd you can let it ride and enjoy some good music.  Go To Bed feat Tyrese is song everybody in a relationship can feel. We all done had fights with our other half about whatever. This is a great tale of one wanting to go to bed and the other doesn’t want to go bed until the fight is fixed. Tyrese did a good job of not overshadowing Monica on this track.  Lead single So Gone let you know Monica was grown and has same everyday issue as any other female in the world. Typical relationship song of losing yourself in a man and the beat was sick Missy out did herself on this one. Knock Knock straight party record right here this that I am tired of my man playing games record  and you move on. This should have been a female anthem in some regards I think. This is a repeat track right here & the remix was pretty good to and the beat was a monster! Don’t Gotta Go Home feat DMX this song right here had a fire set of bars for X ( side note X come back to the game we need you ) great song about a man with a mistress and a wife and the grass is greener on the other side. Sadly people have been in this situation before. U Should’ve Known Better & I Wrote This Song & Hurts The Most are vintage Monica records displaying those pipes and the ballads we used to that everybody at some point and time could related too. Get it Off is another party record that is on the same level as Knock Knock had a nice feat that sounded like Juvey who set the tone on this track. The stand out track I think on this cd is That’s My Man the beat and the track as a whole is nice. Not something you would have expected from Monica you put this on repeat twice. Ladies this is how you express yourself to your man! This cd showed Monica’s growth and her coming of age when this dropped.

Monica needs to make about cd like this one she has a great collection of music and has been one of the best in the game at what she does. I would have to give this cd 5 out of 5 CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Roman Reloaded

Nicki Minaj drops her sophomore cd to platinum plus Pink Friday. This isn’t your typical Hip Hop by any means at all. I will give Nicki credit for TRYING because that is all she did was try! You can tell she had influence from being on the Brittney Spears tour because we had several pop/techno tracks on the cd.  So we got tracks like Automatic, Beautiful Sinner, Starships, Whip it & Pound the Alarm all are wack and sorry attempts at being techno music. I give an A for effort but an F for finished product.  There are numerous songs to avoid on this cd and I think a lot of fans are going to be like WTF Nicki really after they hear it. Roman Holiday good beat wasted on weak rhymes and her still showing she is a gimmick and not a rapper like everybody wants her to be.  Fire Burns don’t know if they were playing in the studio or something but this song makes no sense at all. Come on a Cone Nicki trying to come hard comes off weak/wack whatever you want to say another tight beat wasted on this cd.  Sex in the Lounge feat Lil Wayne & Bobby V I hoped would be something and it wasn’t Wayne gave a half ass’d set of bars and his female protégé followed suit. Shockingly Bobby V stole the show on this one his hooked outshined everybody on this song. There are several other trash tracks on here to many to keep mentioning so I will stop after this one Gun Shot feat Beenie Man I guess this is her attempt at her reggae side of music. It was a reggae mess Beenie Man on hard times and needed a check I think because there is no other reason to disrespect your music genre like this. Bob Marley go come from the dead and ask him why man why!  Out of the 19 tracks I listened to there was 6 songs that I felt were good. The sad part about that is due to the guest appearance is the reason you will like the song. Nothing worst then having features and they outshine you ask Jeezy about that on TM103! First up is Champion feat Nas, Drake & Young Jeezy you already know Nas and Jeezy showed out and reminded everybody that Drake is average at best even Nicki outshined Drake on this one.  Nicki did step her verbal game up on this track glad to see their maybe a glimmer of hope. I Am Your Leader feat Cam ‘Ron & Rick Ross the hook to this was wack and not need at all more of the gimmick shouting/loud talking and sounds cartoon like. No shock Rozay reminded you why he is the boss of Miami and Cam ‘Ron actually put some heat on wax and it’s been a while since he has done that.  You forget Nicki is even on this song gets lost in the shuffle so sad. Beez in the Trap feat 2Chainz on this one Nicki finally outshines her guest on a track and if 2Chainz spits another wack set of bars like he did on this one I am going back to calling him Titty Boi. This had a nice beat and good overall set of bars from Nicki on this one.  I am back and forth on Stupid Hoe it’s a 50/50 like or ok track to me.  Clearing she is calling out Lil Kim and another female rappers on this one.  Roman Reloaded feat Lil Wayne finally Weezy gave a nice set of bars on this track but the protégé did get him on this one.  The beat on this track I think the best beat on the cd overall almost made me lose my lunch it’s so sick!

After listening to this cd Nicki still has a ways to go in the rap game with her skills and stop being a gimmick. Right now by her being the it girl, it really won’t matter in people’s eyes cause she has no competition at all.  In my opinion she is average at best and could never touch Eve, Kim or Foxy when they was big and she really couldn’t spit with Shawna that wouldn’t even be a fair battle right there.  She is better than Trina and Rah Digga and female rappers like that but they never were a big deal anyway. After listening to this cd a few times I gotta give it 2 out of 5 NICE TRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Throwback Review

The Click Game Related

Most people when they think of rap groups on the West Coast they think of NWA, Dogg Pound and The Click. This week throwback review is The Click Game Related. The Click was underground legends that you couldn’t be slept on. Like always every cd has good and bad moments on them so lets it into it. We Don’t Fuck Wit Dat is a solo on the cd that is strictly B-Legit displaying verbal to show why he is 40’s right hand man in the group. It’s a nice tale about a day in the life of Mr. Hemp Museum.  Another nice track and it was a risk but 40 pulled it off is sampling the Computer Love beat for Scandalous.  Everybody showed skills on this to show that even a classic like Computer Love can be a rap song.  World Went Crazy is borderline standout song on the cd. E 40 gives a good tale about his birth into the world and when base rock hit the streets of the bay area. Hot Ones Echo Thru the Ghetto is bay area funk letting you know we ain't no joke and we go get dat ass! Something you and your click will ride to when you gotta let somebody know.  Some of the weak songs to skip over are Out of My Body, Get Chopped and Boss Baller all I will say is they all are horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nuff said! The standouts on the cd that you need to hear if nothing else Wolf Tickets we all know somebody that always talking but never back the talk at all. Hurricane is another fire cut about that drink that get you so tore back you don’t remember nothing at all! I remember my freshman days at GSU (Grambling State University) and I had my moments with Hurricane too!  The cream of the crop of standout songs is the hustler’s anthem before Rick Ross had his song Hustling you had The Click Be About Yo Paper. This song right here is the blueprint til this day what money making rather legal or illegal needs to be about.

All in all I will say this cd is a good one that you need in your bay area/west coast rap collection. The only knock is the bad songs are so bad they kinda outshine the fire on this cd. So that being said I will give this cd a 3 out of 5 SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Above the Rim Soundtrack

When the Above the Rim soundtrack came out West Coast was on top and taking over the rap game. Nobody in their right mind wanted to mess with Death Row and this started the ball on record labels doing soundtracks for movies. Now the majority of the people on this cd are now null and void since this was over 20 years ago.  This was a 90’s who’s who of music at that time from Dogg Pound all the way to H-Town. Let’s do things different this time and get the trash out the way cause all the other songs are heat and must listen to songs.  CPO-Boss Hog song Jus So Ya No this song was ok but not a must listen the female on the hook wouldn’t stop screaming and that really took from the song. AL B. Sure I’m Still in Love With You how the hell did Al B get on here is my question? He was washed by now and this song is WASK AS HELL and way out of place for this soundtrack. This was a sad ass remake T-Pain could auto tune a better remake!  O.F.T.B. Crack’EM this song was a sad attempt to be NWA felt like this another group on Death Row that should have never gotten a deal but a lot of labels got garbage acts. Jewell It’s Not Deep Enough this song I kinda go back and forth on it was ok but at the same time weak to me and its sad cause Jewell duet with Aaron Hall called Gonna Give it to You is outright fire side note where the hell is Aaron Hall? Now that we got the trash out the way let’s get to the heat on this Soundtrack first up is SWV Anything  this song is good from start to finish and whatever guy what’s to hear from his lady. Sweet Sable Old Time’s Sake is a nice ride to track sipping on something maybe. H-Town Part Time Lover this song right here had everybody on lock from male to female. This was a theme song for people who didn’t want a relationship but just kick it. This is nothing but a MONSTER of a song just listen to it I don’t need to give it anymore props! Dogg Pound Big Pimpin’ & Dogg Pound 4 Life both songs showed why DPG was hands down the best group on the west coast at the time. Big Pimpin’ beat was hard nice from the G-Funk era and Snoop on the track and Nate on the hook you can’t go wrong with this one.  Dogg Pound 4 Life is a hard track that you listen to going to find somebody.  Dj Rogers Doggie style the name of the song says enough so I will move to the next track! 2Pac & Thug Life Pour Out A Little Liquor this song should have been a single but all my hardcore fans could relate and feel this song and gave it hella play.  2Pac at his finest spitting fire for his dead homies and ready niggas to not forget their dead homies!  This soundtrack also introduced everybody to Lady of Rage Afro Puffs this song was raw and showed that west coast had a female voice that had been void since Boss disappeared from the rap game.  The stand out track on this soundtrack that was lead single and still to this day get people to rapping or singing the hook to it myself include is Warren G feat Nate Dogg Regulate.  Now I have never been to the west coast but this song is a breakdown of what a typical night can be for fellas in LA I think. This song put Nate Dogg on the map for being a MONSTER on the hook to this day nobody is touching Nate Dogg on hooks. You put this song on repeat at least twice first time do Warren’s part second time do Nate Doggs part.

Above The Rim Soundtrack set the bar for how a soundtrack is suppose to be with a movie. I wish they go back to that mindset because 95.6% of the soundtracks now are beyond wack. You already know I am going to say this cd is 5 out of 5 CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melanie Fiona: The MF Life

Today we get Melanie Fiona sophomore cd The MF Life and I think we are getting to know what type of artist Melanie is.  I must say that this cd did surprise me in some good ways and better than what I expected.  Melanie is a mixture of old and new school R&B singer from what I get from this cd. Songs like Bones displays the skills that she learned listening to old school great but sadly not everybody will vibe with this song. My 70’s R&B lovers won’t hit skip like others will.  I Been that Girl is a song that you would have expect Mary to sing but Melanie beat her to it nice song about girlfriend that was lied to and took the guy back.  The two tracks featuring rappers This Time feat J.Cole & Running feat Nas are two good tracks and both rappers respect whose song it is and don’t overshadow Melanie.  It’s time for the songs to avoid Change The Record feat B.O.B. from the moment you hit play this songs is wack and B.O.B. verse wasn’t a bright spot it’s like he didn’t even try.  Watch Me Work is a Melanie meets rock song and it is an EPIC FAILURE ON ALL LEVELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  L.O.V.E. feat John Legend & Can’t Say I Never Loved You is both failures that should have been left on the floor. There are 3 stand out tracks on this first up is Break Down These Walls great song about relationship one member of the group being hurt before and struggling to open up to the other. We all can relate to it 100% I think because we all have been either person before. The lead single 4AM is nice and I thought the stand out track about calling your other half phone getting no answer and all the wrong things run through your head. The remix to it 6AM feat T-Pain is the standout track out of the 3 best track on the cd and this continues to where your other half finally answers the phone. T-Pain sounded like his old self that has been missing in the game and Melanie shows she can do a hip hop fused track with a monster beat.

I will say that Melanie Fiona has almost made me a fan I think this next cd is going to get knocked out the box. This cd is way way way and did I way better than the first one. She isn’t there yet but getting close I give this cd a 3 out of 5 SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diggy Unexpected Arrival

After about a year or so of the wait Rev Run son Diggy hits us with his first cd. First track on cd Hello World is not a bad little track to introduce us to Diggy or as he calls himself the Jetsetter.  Need to Know is a nice cd but a teenager version of 50 Cent 21 Questions it’s kinda of been their done that type song but for his crowd they don’t know about 21 Questions and will eat it up.  The Reign is a good track calling out all the other teenager rappers letting them know he on top and they will be in second for a while.  Like every cd that is a lot of wackiness and Diggy has that fate as well. Unforgiveable Blackness is horrible Diggy is as about as black as Joan Rivers so this song was way out of place.  Glow in the Dark has to be due to his influence with the Neptune with beat and whatever he trying to pull off it doesn’t happen. 4 Letter Word another sucka for love wanna be LL Cool J type track please  PSA moment “rappers stop singing on tracks there are enough out of work R&B singers that will do it for you”. Ok I’m back let’s get to some of the better tracks that stand out on this 13 cd debut 88 feat Jadakiss now Diggy does his version of going hard and talks about his bloodline in the game from Rev Run to Russell and Jadakiss does a good job of falling in line and not surpassing him. The beat was killer and he rode it nicely no slip ups at all. Special Occasion feat Tank (got the r&b singer this time) is a nice song to a female but Tank on the hook makes you forget its Diggy song once he opens his mouth and you heat them pipes! The gem of the cd we all have heard several times is Do it Like You Feat Jeremih on this one Diggy and Jeremih got that chemistry to where it works and sounds like they been working together for years. Sounded like a joint effort nobody outshined anybody nothing but heat on the song.

Now I will say I am clearly too old for Diggy hands down but even 16 yr old me wouldn’t listen to this I don’t think. In today’s teen rap world they will love it and Diggy may have the same run that Bow Wow had. I will give this a 3 out of 5 SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Raheem Devaughn Destination Loveland

We haven’t heard from Raheem in about 2 years now and he hits us with a new mixtape with his homie and everybody’s Uncle Big Snoop Dogg. Now at first you would think this is a odd combo but it’s not what you think. Snoop was only on one song Be the One that was nice song from start to finish. This mixtape only had one track skipped out of ten and that was Rock with the Best I couldn’t get pasted the beat and the old school feel that it had. You put in this mixtape and let it ride from start to finish and you will be happy. Stand out heaters are All Ready this song so fire and nasty all in one I didn’t feel like I was old enough to be listening to it. Radio Raheem another gem to where he shows them pipes and real R&B music. Forever feat Phil Ade & Marsha Ambrosius was a lovely song to where I didn’t even mind the rapping on the song. It would have been even better if it had been left off the song but it all still worked. This mixtape could have been a regular release it got so much heat on it. I wasn’t a fan until his last cd this mixtape has gotten me on lock and now I am like what’s next Raheem!

This cd is what you need when you wanna hear some real R&B music with no wanna be club tracks on there. I gotta give this 5 out of 5 if this aint a CLASSIC show me what is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Throwback Review

Master P: Ghetto Dope

First let me say this cd right here was a monster when it came out. This really put No Limit on the map in the 90’s and continued they strong hold on the streets and untouchable music at that time. Now by no means was this a classic cd there was some trash on here.  Ghetto Dope title track was a gimmick song about making that powder sounded like Hammers version of making weight just sad.  Tryin’ 2 Do Something was another gimmick track trying to be commercial or something. Throw ‘Em Up you lose focus on this song just seemed like it went on and on and on could have been left off the cd. Stop Hatin was jus outright horrible nothing else needs to be said on that but I am hating on it.  Songs to listen to are Only Time Will Tell beat was killer hook was a little weak but all in all it worked.  Let’s Get ‘Em is straight up my crew looking for you crew type track before we had Lil’ Jon we had songs like this.   We Riders fall along with this also can’t go wrong with it.  Captain Kirk was a classic track on this cd everybody knows somebody tricking off money to get some ass from a female. Saving hoes that don’t need to be saved is what this song is about.   Eyes on my Enemies I think everybody can relate to this when you on the club or wherever and you see somebody you beefing with. You watch them the whole time to make sure they don’t get you before you get them.  Weed and Money & Make ‘Em Say Ugh are all ok to me they are songs you would skip from time to time not an every time listen. Now the heat you gotta listen to is Bourbons & Lacs because of this song I felt I need something with white walls on it so I could roll hard through the streets. Pass Me Da Green title speaks for itself who didn’t get high to this track when it first came out? Plan B was the blueprint of what it meant to have a main chick and a side chick. Side chicks like on this song are far and few in between.  Lastly you got Miss My Homies this song goes with DRS Gangsta Lean every time I hear this song I think of all my fallen friends and family. It’s a sad song but a fitting song when you lose someone.

All in all this cd was one of the best the year it dropped you can’t tell me it wasn’t because even today you can ride to it. I gotta give this a 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ja Rule Pain is Love 2

So mister “Murda” himself is back in the fold to drop another cd from behind bars this time.  When I first saw Ja was dropping a new cd I didn’t expect much from him at all. His last two cd’s where wacker than Mims damn near.  Now I will Ja his props in his heyday late 90’s early 2000’s he had many club hits that I thank him for that kept females on the dance floor! Let me get off my flashback moment and focus on Pain is Love 2. I don’t know what it is about rap cats and prison but a lot of the time it equals good music. Now I know this cd was done before he was about to go in but maybe knowing he was going he wanted to get out some good work for the fans.  I think hands down this is his best work takes me back to Venni Vetti Vecci before the money, fame and saying “Murda” every 4 words.  The first track (Intro) Fuck Fame feat Leah Siegal is a nice intro to let you know this is a stripped down Ja no bright lights of big name features on the cd. Real Life Fantasy feat Leah Siegal we get the pain part of the cd where Ja spits I miss Black, Charlie, Ashanti, Gotti, Vitda  never thought we never be family. That line right there lets you know once murda inc crashed it hurt him the most the way this track goes. I always say we need more of these songs about the rappers life and not his fantasy. Another good track to check out is To The Top feat Kaleena of Dirty Money this is vintage Ja song from his heyday nice R&B chick on the hook and a nice flow and beat you can ride to.  Now here are some songs to avoid at all cost Black Vodka I dont know if he was talking about the drink or a females I was damn lost he was trying to be too hard and I was like stop please stop lol! Never Had Time feat Jon Doe horrible Ne-Yo wanna be on the hook beat was wack and his rhymes was just as weak as the beat. Clearly he wasn’t paying attention or owed somebody a favor with this track.  Spun a Web feat Amia is a 50/50 song I like it and hate it at the same time. I go back and forth it’s not an every time listen at all.  Now there are 3 gems on this cd that need to he heard first before you listen to anything else Parachute this is something got a rock beat but it works and Ja shows why he was a beast in the game for a while. Next up is Superstar  shows the storytelling skills about  somebody having fame in the game but I think it’s him really talking about himself in some regards. Lastly Drown feat Somong & Kenny Dark is nice track that steps into the auto tune game but Ja holds it down kills a nice baseline nice hook it shines and works together you wanna put this one on repeat at least twice.
Al l in all I will say that if Ja Rule keeps making cd’s like this he will get me as a fan without a doubt. I gotta give this cd a 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maino Day After Tomorrow

Maino hits us with his second album and I will say it’s better than the first one. Sadly I don’t have much to say about this cd because it was ok. Everything song sounds the same there was nothing that really stands out. The best song to listen to is Cream feat TI & Meek Mills they both gave priceless bars on this track. Glad to Be Alive is a song that I think 2pac would have shined on if he was still around. This cd is really nothing missed at all.

I hope he was a better thug than he is a rapper because right now he is lacking! I will give this cd a 2 out of 5 NICE TRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tyga: Careless World

Let me first say I didn’t expect much from this cd due to everything from Young Money being wack outside of Carter III & IV coming out. The lead single on this cd Rack City or as I call it Wack City had me leaning the wrong way on this cd I will admit. Lets first get the wack tracks out the way and like I already mentioned Rack City fire beat how lyrics to it. Far Away feat Chris Richardson was boring and felt like it didn’t belong on the cd like it was a pop track on a rap cd. He should give to Glee or something. Love Game is another sucka for love rap song that should have been left on the cutting room floor. Rappers unless you are LL stop the sucka for love songs please. Muthafucka Up feat Nicki Minaj is another wack song that Tyga actually was cool but yet again flavor of the month was wack and pulled the song down big time. Young Money realize she is wack and cut her lose to get a real female MC not a gimmick. Let’s get to some fire track on the cd now first let me say Careless World and Lil Homie feat Pharell are must listen to songs that start the cd out real nicely. Tyga did make a mistake and had some heavyweights on some tracks and got outshined by them. Potty Mouth feat Busta Rhymes OMG is what I will say on this Busta showed why Cash Money signed him and he is the best talent on the label. Tyga nice try but don’t step to Busta again unless he is half sick or something and not focused.  Lil Wayne is featured on two tracks Faded and Lay You Down I will say Tyga held his own on Faded but Wayne reminded him he was boss on Lay You Down.  King and Queens feat Wale and Nas is another fire track and a standout track vintage Nas and Wale keeps impressing the masses to show that Ambition wasn’t a onetime thing and he has real skill. Stand track was raps future Let it Show feat J.Cole and these two young guns showed that the future of hip hop is in good hands right now.  Celebration was another stand out track with T-Pain on it you forget how good of a producer and hook singer T-Pain has been in his career but this track reminds you wrapped around good lyrics from Tyga. One more stand Black Crowns just Tyga by himself and he kills it nice beat and hook he showed true talent.

Tyga did a damn good job on this cd and shows why he is next best talent on Young Money behind Lil Wayne and Drake needs to take note of what a good cd is. I rate this cd 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Estelle All of Me

Let me first start this review by saying damn! Who knew Estelle had it in her I am very pleased and shocked by this cd. She has come along way since her first to where the best song was American Boy feat Kanye West. The first track on the cd The Life let you know you were in for a good ride musically. She was blessed with some heavyweights on this cd International (Serious) feat Chris Brown & Trey Songz produced by David Banner is straight heat! Best part about this is she didn’t get outshined and helped her own on this track.  Cold Crush is another banger with a funky little beat to it and nice female perspective about hollering at a crush. Now the biggest issue with this cd but Estelle being from overseas her ear is a little different from ours. So she has some songs that are ok that the beat may turn you off and you listen to it from time to time.  First up on the okay list is Speak Ya Mind, Love the Way We Used to and Wonderful Life all 3 of these songs you will listen to from time to time but not all the time. Before I get to the wack songs let me give Estelle a PSA stop rapping you average at best. Stick to what pays the bills and that’s your voice not your bars! I had to get that off my chest now songs to avoid like the plague at all cost.  Found my Way, Do My Thing & Back to Love are horrible and Back to Love rides that line of ok and trash I just don’t know where it fits in so I listed it with both. Do My Thing was worst out of the three and whoever told her that track was hot needs to be fired. Let’s get to the two gems on the cd Thank You is beautiful track that showed her real R&B skills that are there. The cream of the crop on this cd is Break My Heart feat Rick Ross this is a repeat at least 3 times type track. Just when you think Rozay outshined her she comes back with some beautiful lyrics that anybody in a new relationship can feel.  The hook the beat all work well together and the best part about the song I think is they both hold they own weight to where this could have been a single for either.

I will say this was a good stepping stone for Estelle to build on in her career. Reminders please stay away from rapping and you will go far. At first listen I was ready to give this cd a 4 but after listening again due the bad songs being so bad I will give it a 3 out of 5 SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Throwback Pick Tweet Southern Hummingbird

Out of all Missy’s protégé’s hands down Tweet was the best one of them all. Her debut cd Southern Hummingbird is still one of the best of cd’s to date in the Neo-Soul era.  Where do I begin on this cd first it is a soulful ride from beginning to end that you won’t forget. Let me get to the weak songs to avoid by all means skip Boogie 2nite & Make Ur Move. These two tracks kinda weigh down what is otherwise a well rounded cd. Now I will admit I am 50/50 on the lead single Oops (Oh My) feat Missy it’s an every now and then type song I think. Everything else on the cd is heat straight heat you don’t skip any song you let it roll.  Shockingly hot song is Smoking Cigarettes title doesn’t let you know how hot the song is at all.  This cd is beyond emotional Tweet put her heart and soul into this cd that can be felt in songs like Drunk, Always Will & Beautiful. You feel the pain and know that Tweet been through something with these songs. She does venture into an up tempo track with Call Me not a bad song and she does pull it off but it’s not as strong as the other soulful songs on this cd like Heaven & Complain & Motel. The standout track on this cd is Best Friend feat Bilal this song will make you a Bilal fan you aren’t one. We all can relate to this song about having feelings for a friend but can’t cross that line.

This cd is a must have for your Neo Soul collection because it is incomplete without it.  I gotta give this cd a 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Throwback Pick of the week

D'Angelo: Brown Sugar

Since there seems to be word that after a 10 year layoff D’Angelo is finally about to drop his 3rd cd I decided to review what got it all started Brown Sugar!  This is one of the best cd’s to introduce yourself to the world.  Very rarely can you put in a cd please play and let it ride this one is one of those rare times. The title track Brown Sugar lets you know this is a throwback singer in present times before there was Anthony Hamilton we had D’Angelo.  A standout moment about this cd is that there are no features on here at all. So you really get an introduction to who D’Angelo is as an artist. There are no bad songs on this cd at all even a song call Shit, Damn, Motherfucker you would think is wack it’s pretty considering the title.  The whole cd is a stand out cd that you can’t go wrong at all. The standout songs to me on this cd are Me & Those Dreamin’ Eyes of Mine, Cruisin’ & Lady start with these 3 and won’t be disappointed at all. Cruisin original done by Smokie Robinson that I feel D’Angelo made it sound better than the original version.  Anybody with that special lady in the life will feel the song Lady from start to finish.  Like I said in the beginning just put in this cd and let it ride you can’t go wrong at all.

This cd was classic from the beginning to end and show how much of a beast D’Angelo was go be in at the time wasn’t called Neo-Soul but he is the godfather of it I think. I rate this cd 5 out of 5 CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rick Ross Rich Forever mixtape

Rozay jumps into 2012 with his first mixtape of the year Rich Forever. This was put with all new material to hold you over til the pushed back God Forgives I Don’t drops in the next month or so. Let me first say this cd is good enough to be a actual nationwide release.  Everybody in the rap game doing a mixtape this has set the bar for the year so far. Granted I know it’s early in the year but this made me forgot about TI F*ck Da City Up that just dropped 5 days prior! Okay now that I got that out the way lets breakdown this mixtape. Out the gate the beats are crazy like I expected them to beat Rozay always got the best on beats.  Let’s start different this go around and talk about the disappointments on this mixtape. Up first is Ring Ring feat Future this song is so horrible I think I can out do both of them. It was another sucka for love song that should have been left on the cutting room floor I think.  This is the worst song on the cd after that there are two so so songs that are borderline bad and okay all in the same breath.  Keys to the Crib feat Styles P this song just seemed hella long and a run on song with no end to it. Styles P was ok on it but nothing between him and Rozay stood out on this one. Next is Mmg The World is Ours feat Meek Mill, Pharrell & Stalley when are people go realize that Pharrell needs to make beats and be on the hook not spitting bars. As usual Meek Mill holds his own and Rozay was nice but Stalley new to the game was trash made Pharrell sound like Nas that is how bad he was.  Time for the good music of this mixtape first up Diddy is on two tracks New Bugatti & Holy Ghost two nice tracks if this is a sign of what is come with their cd Bugatti Boyz then it may be worth a good listen from what I am hearing right now from these tracks.  High Definition & Mmg Untouchable is just Rozay showing why he is the King of the 305 and nobody else.  Mine Games feat Kelly Rowland at first I was worried but once I heard Kelly on the hook I wasn’t worried in anymore. She hasn’t killed a hook this good since Dilemma with Nelly. If you go do your version of LL love song here is the blueprint on how to do it.  Don’t miss I Swear To God & King of Diamonds more solo heat of Rozay by himself to show he can hold it down with or without a guest.  Party Heart feat 2Chainz & Stalley because of this mixtape I will no longer call 2Chainz Titty Boi anymore he came with heat on both songs he is on. Newcomer Stalley showed why he was allowed on this mixtape on this track Rozay rode the beat effortlessly to where you can’t deny the skills. Now let’s talk about the joints you don’t want to and can’t miss on this mixtape.  Fck Em feat 2Chainz & Wale this song right here is heat Wale showing that his work on Ambition wasn’t a joke and 2Chainz is starting to pick up some steam in his solo career. Rozay came in and killed the beat and the song to remind you why he is the Boss as he says all the time.  Title track Rich Forever feat John Legend is just as good as the song if not better they did on Deeper Than Rap “Magnificent” this could have been a single. Rozay bars and Legend soulful voice on the hook you can’t deny this song at all. Last Breath feat Meek Mill & Birdman finally somebody keep up and surpassed Meek Mill on a track last couple mixtapes (fabo & ti) he been killing them but on this on Rozay let it be known it’s his song and Meek is the feature. I don’t know who wrote it but Birdman actually spit a decent set of bars for a change.  The top dawg song on this mixtape is Triple Beam Dream feat Nas is that song you put on repeat if you can only listen to one song on this mixtape this is the one. I can’t express enough how both of Rozay & Nas kill this beat the hook. Damnit this song is weapons of mass destruction Bush been looking for.  We got “Ether “ Nas on this track and this made Rozay step up to the plate. First listen I thought Nas got Rozay but second listen I think Rozay got Nas. It goes back and forth to where this a classic joint.

To sum up you gotta get this mixtape cause it is one step short of a classic and its early in the year but has set the bar for the rest of the year! Rozay just maybe the boss! I give this 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

T.I. F*ck Da City Up mixtape

The King of the South finally drops a mixtape since being out of lock up. While bringing in the New Year I made sure I was there for the midnight release of this mixtape.  Out the gate the beats on this cd are a crazy best collections of beats on one cd in awhile and sadly that being said the beats clearly outshine everything about this cd. Yes even the King of the South takes a backseat to the beats on this cd.  The title track F*ck Da City Up feat Young Jeezy was a nice ATL is back type track between  the two but it was missing Ludacris to really set it off I felt.  Loud Mouth feat 2Chainz (Titty Boi still refuse to say 2Chainz) was a surprisingly good song and Titty Boi finally spit something decent in a song. Of course though T.I. carved him up like a Thanksgiving turkey but if he didn’t that would have been horrible! Some other tracks to listen to on this mixtape are Who What When feat Meek Mill like I have said before on Fabo mixtape Meek is killing it and holding his own with heavyweights in the game. Let me take a moment and say this Rozay & Maybach music put his cd out while he spitting heat before he dries up and has no more good material! Give a listen to The One, I’ll Show You feat Pusha T on this one Pusha held his own considering he got way less time that T.I. on the song.  They both spit some good heat on this one.  Of course with good comes the bad avoid skip do whatever to not listen to these tracks Harry Potter (D.O.P.E.), In a Nut Shell feat Lady G & Spodee, Pimp feat Pimp C & Too Short not a shock Pimp C reminds why he was the weaker member of UGK & no knock on Too Short but his Cocktails flow has expired along time ago, This Time Of Night Feat Nelly nicest way I can is that this was a train wreck and leave it at that.  There was really one standout on this mixtape Piss’N On Your Ego feat B.O.B.  on this track Bobby Ray showing that his mixtape E.P.I.C. wasn’t misleading and the skills you heard were real on that mixtape. That being said Bobby Ray did steal the show on this track from T.I. even though this was his best verse’s throughout the whole mixtape.
If this is the best the The King of the South can do then I will start calling him The Prince of the South because he is going in the wrong direction skill wise!  I can only give this mixtape a 3 out of 5 SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fabolous: There Is No Competition: Death Comes in 3's mixtape

Fabo steps into the scene again with DJ Drama for his third and final installment of “There is No Competition”.  Now upon first listen I thought this was a great disappointment and not away to end the trilogy at all. Since I listen to each cd at least 3 times before I do a review I started noticing that this was actually a good and fitting end to the trilogy. Title track Death Come in 3’s lets you that Fabo means business and letting cats in the game know he really does feel he can’t be touched.  Another good song to listen and shocker is Get Down or Lay Down feat Lloyd Banks reason it’s a shocker is because Lloyd Banks actually spits some decent heat on this track keeping up with Fabo and not getting killed like I expected him to get.  You Don’t Know Bout It feat Meek Mill is another banger showing why Meek was sign to Maybach and makes you want to say Rozay when this kid go drop something? I got to admit though that Meek Mill did outshine Fabo on this one. Fabo came nice with his verse and everything but was too laid back for this track when Meek went at it hard like it was his last bars he would ever spit.  Some other tracks to listen to are Swag Champ & Black City and this track was almost a standout but it was just too short to get that kinda of props too.  It’s that time again why rappers why is my question Fabo tries his best LL impression on She Did It wanna be strip anthem or something horrible. Also avoid these two songs that will take time out ya life Get That Work & Unfuckwitable. I really want to know what he was thinking making that trash! Now Fabo does have 3 standout tracks that are a must listen to on this mixtape if you listen to anything on it. First up is BET feat Jadakiss & Styles P now looking at that you would think they LOX would tag team and run circles around Fabo but he held his own from start to finish to where it created some heat. Next up is Death In The Family feat Paul Cain this was classic Fabo reminding you of his old track “Breathe” he went hard on this beat good to see he still got it. Now the best standout on this cd is a monster and true example of a mixtape. Fabo takes Just Blaze beat for Drake song Lord Knows and puts Lord Knows on his mixtape and he kills it. I already said in my review of Drake cd he got outshined on that song by Rozay well now he got finished off by Fabo with his 3 minutes of 187 on Drake’s verse. If you put Rozay verse with Fabo then you got a damn good song and Drake is now the definition of extra!!!!
Fabo & DJ Drama put together a nice final installment to There is No Competition all three are a mixtape must if you in the world of mixtapes! I will have to rate this cd 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slim Thug: Houston mixtape

Slim Thug comes back to the scene with his new mixtape Houston and out the gate I will say this has to be his best work since “Already Platinum” dropped years ago. From the very beginning of this mixtape Slim lets you know this is all Houston on here no Neptune influence or anyone outside of H-town! The title track Houston feat Paul Wall & Z-Ro is a monster and lets you know what is in store for you. Some other good tracks to check out are O.C.D. feat Killa Kyleon & Les, Bout Dat feat Mug, Les & Lil O and don’t miss Halloween Night feat Les & Mug. These songs will keep ya head nodding and feeling like you need to go to H-town ASAP. Now there were some ugly moments in this mixtape. Yet again Slim falls in the sucka for love rap songs and had the nerve to sing on them PLEASE STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!! By all means avoid Come Here Bitch, My Car feat Kirko Bangz & Dough Beezy, Favorite Bitch and let’s not forget Japanese Swag feat Dre Day. Words can’t express how bad these songs are and just leave you to say WTF Slim really!  Time to talk on the stand out tracks on the cd first up is Creepin feat Paul Wall & Bun B this song went so hard it reminded me of “Still Tippin” from his first cd “Already Platinum” each rapper on here showed why they are heavy weights in Houston rap. This song almost made me go get a oily cup of lean and Po’ it up! Shine feat E.S.G. is some more heat when Slim showing his verbal game that made him big on the underground in the early 2000’s. The two tracks that I think stood out the most are My Life feat Propain & the Outro reason I say this is because rappers don’t spend enough time educating people on their life and what it took to get into the game. So on these two tracks Slim is more sincere and not rapping about the life but telling us about his life and I give much props to that.
Welcome back Slim Thugga you went back to your roots and it works best cd since your first one hands down. Others have been good but missing something and what was that something HOUSTON!! I rate this cd 4 out of 5 FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
